The Jefferson park and recreation department is holding a Quarantine Challenge, a fitness event participants can do on their own while practicing social distancing.
The challenge is to run/walk 26.2 miles and bike 112 miles in the three weeks starting April 20. A body weight component to the challenge is optional.
Participants will email their daily progress to JPRD assistant director Nathan Kral each day. The information won’t be posted anywhere, but Kral will track distances and changes in weight.
The registration fee of $20 for Greene County Community Center members and $30 for non-members includes an “official” T-shirt. Persons can register by phone at 515-386-3412, by emailing parkrec@netins.net, or by mail at 204 W. Madison St, Jefferson, IA 50129.
